Before holding any official coaching positions, Coach Hoku helped at the Palama Gym under her father-in-law Coach Francis Akana, husband Coach Shane Akana, and her own old school coach Coach Clifford Clarke Sr. to learn the game, play the game, and eventually coach the skills and system of the game to help at-risk kids learn sports and leadership. Coach Hoku is currently married, lives in Waimanalo, loves the beach, music, and lots of family time. She has 1 daughter who also played competitive club volleyball & now plays collegiately on the West Coast along side many of our former players who have passed through our Pioʻole Training philosophy.
